Claremont High School quarterback Daniel Kessler is set on making his senior season his best season. And the numbers do not lie.
Leading the Wolfpack to a 4-1 record, Kessler has completed 99 of 143 passes (69 percent) for 1513 yards (302 passing yards per game) to go along with 16 touchdown throws (3 TDs per game) and just 5 interceptions (one INT per game). The senior currently has a quarterback rating of 127.
Yet Kessler has had plenty of help in the receiver area this season. Leading CHS receiver Tanner Kuramata has 39 catches for 598 yards and 4 touchdowns at the midway point of the season. Aaron Dockery has been another big play receiver for the Pack with 27 catches for 503 yards and 5 TDs.
Claremont is just one win away from tying last season's total. The rest of the team's games will be against Sierra League opponents, starting with Chino Hills at home on Oct. 15th.
Check below for a comparison of Kessler's numbers this year compared to last year.
2009: 166-237 (70 %), 2419 yards, 24 TDs, 7 INTs, 124.0 QB rating
2010 (5 games): 99-143 (69.2%), 1513 yards, 16 TDs, 5 INTs, 127.0 QB rating
If Kessler were to repeat the same success he's had through the first 5 games of the season, his final statistics for the 2010 season could look like this:
Projected 2010: 198-286, 3026 yards, 32 TDs, 10 INT, 127.0 QB rating
